About Me

Hi! I’m Cara! Here is a little more about me, the Friendly Pet Sitter. I live near Market Harborough, Leicestershire, with my family.  For as long as I can remember I have been a very keen animal lover.

I was fortunate enough to grow up with a rabbit (rescue), cats (rescues), dogs, goldfish, hens and stick insects.  As a child I spent plenty of time with horses, ponies, and various other small domesticated animals, as well as on farms.

Pet-less For The First Time

When I moved away for University I found myself pet-less for the first time in my life… It just didn’t feel right.  I have always loved animals and I missed spending time with them.  I came up with the idea of caring for other peoples’ pets whenever I could when they were unable to,
and so my pet-sitting journey began…

Going Professional...

Initially, I began caring for friend’s pets but these opportunities were not very regular. So, I advertised to look after pets and fortunately, a very lovely family trusted me to look after their new puppy.  Before I knew it, most of my time was spent meeting some lovely pet owners and spending time with their wonderful pets in their homes.

As a professional pet sitter for over seven years, the pets I have cared for: hedgehogs (rescue), tropical fish, koi carp, rats, ferrets, dogs (from big breeds to small), cats (from British Short-Haired to Maine Coons), guinea pigs, hamsters, ostriches, hens & horses.
I’ve met a variety of people, and I am fortunate enough that it has taken me to a variety of places, too.

Other Interests

If I am not pet sitting, I may be found gardening, making something crafty, cooking, doing some gentle yoga, reading, listening to some music or a podcast, or even at a gig somewhere!
I also have an interest in photography, which I try to implement when I take pictures of pets, but I have no training in this area. I would like to explore this in the future though.

Other Qualifications

I have a biology degree (BSc) with an animal behaviour component. I am always a keen learner and so, I have a few other certificates, too.
